Cherry Smash, Trail Funding Moves Forward

Michael Holland
Mar 5, 2026
This week mixes sweetness with substance.
Cherry Smash leads this week’s SENTY Report, the Everglades memorial loop secures new funding, and Riverside Park’s canal cleanup moves forward.
Add the Florida Renaissance Festival to the calendar, and there is more happening right now than it might first appear. |
Cherry Smash: Strong Sentiment, Long Lines at Peak Hours |
Cherry Smash Ice Cream Parlour
Holiday décor and a nostalgic atmosphere consistently draw praise, especially for brownie sundaes and banana splits. But peak-hour lines draw notes.
From the outside the shop appears larger than it is, which helps explain how quickly the interior fills when crowds arrive.

What is SENTY?

Coffee Rituals: The Everyday Cup (Mini-Book) |
Most mornings begin the same way. The same mug. The same first sip. Because it feels ordinary, it is easy to rush.
This week’s mini-book, Coffee Rituals: The Everyday Cup, offers simple coffee recipes built for real routines.
Try changing just one detail at a time. Small adjustments tend to stay. Download the mini-book here. |
A 10.7-mile walking and biking loop connecting Coral Springs to the Everglades levee just secured another $800,000 in funding, pushing the long-planned project closer to reality.
The Everglades Memorial Loop is designed to stretch from Atlantic Boulevard to Wiles Road, eventually including a pedestrian bridge over the Sawgrass Expressway and a three-story lookout tower near the Sportsplex.
The full project is estimated at $21.1 million, with completion targeted around 2032.
If you’ve noticed wider shared-use paths along Royal Palm Boulevard, you’re already seeing pieces of this larger mobility plan take shape.
If biking from your neighborhood to the Everglades without major traffic crossings sounds appealing, this is one to watch. Read More... |
On Saturday, March 7, volunteers will gather at Riverside Park to take part in the annual Broward Waterway Cleanup, focusing on litter removal along the canal behind Riverside Park.
Students can earn community service hours, and organizers will provide T-shirts, grabbers, and collection supplies.
The cleanup happens every year on the first Saturday in March, helping prevent debris from moving through South Florida’s connected water systems.
For residents who want a hands-on way to support the city’s environmental health, this is one of the most direct opportunities of the year. Read More... |
If You Only Do One Thing This Week... |
Make It: The Florida Renaissance Festival. |
Steel clashes. Lutes echo. Smoke drifts from open fire pits as the Florida Renaissance Festival continues its seasonal run at Quiet Waters Park.
Live jousting, artisan markets, and themed weekends turn the park into a fully immersive escape for a few hours.
When: Weekends through March (Sat & Sun, 10am–sunset)
Insider Tip: Arriving earlier in the day usually means lighter crowds and better seating for the joust. |
Insider Advantages Taking Shape |
We’re developing a few reader-only advantages for Coral Springs Insider.
This week’s coffee mini-book above is a small example of what attentive readers can expect over time.
More thoughtful extras will continue to unfold quietly. |
There’s something fitting about pairing Cherry Smash with trail funding and canal cleanup in the same week.
A place works best when both the small pleasures and the long-term commitments move forward together.
